Hope for Haiti Now

Posted: 23 de Janeiro de 2010 in Não classificado
Because of the big earthquake in Haiti, thousands of Haitian people have no homes, no food and no medicine.

Around the world, people want to help Haiti. They want to give money.
•President Obama asked Americans to send a text message to a special phone number to give $10 (7 Euros). Americans gave $1.7million (1.2million Euros) in one day.
•MTV Networks presented a live global telethon Jan. 22 to help victims of of the earthquake in Haiti.
The show was presented by George Clooney (Los Angeles) and the Haitian rapper Wyclef Jean (New York).

•In England, Stanley’s school in Norwich had a ‘Hats for Haiti’ day. Every pupil wore a hat and gave money. The school made £700 (800 Euros). The school’s headmaster says, “I hope other schools do the same and have a ‘Hats for Haiti’ day”.

Aren’t they so cute?

A chilly New Year’s Day tradition takes place all over the world as people plunge into icy water during annual polar bear dips. Swimming in the ice-cold water like a polar bear on New Year Day is said to bring in good luck.
For these “polar bears,” Jan. 1st is not complete without a brave — or crazy, depending on your perspective – swim. “WHY?” is not an unreasonable question.

Tradition dictates that every 365(6) days, you must try to get rid of bad lifestyles and start your life anew.
Thus, New Year Resolutions are annual goals that help us to improve and break out of old habits. However, most people forget about it the very next day and get on with their lives as usual. Don’t let this happen to you!
So, sit down with a paper and a pen, and reflect: What kinds of New Year Resolutions will you manage for yourself in 2010?

Brrrrr… It's freezing!

It’s that time of year again. It’s that type of weather again. It’s JANUARY!
For us, this is usually one of the coldest months of the year. However, for many people, winter is a nightmare: snow, ice, hail, minus degrees… Covered by beautiful snow blankets, the sidewalks and streets become dangerous skating rinks and… going outside can be hazardous!

EUROPE

The freezing weather across Europe is showing no signs of easing, and many countries are reporting their coldest winters in decades.

The heavy snowfalls and sub-zero temperatures as low as minus 20 degrees Celsius have taken many by surprise and caused widespread disruption: blocked roads and traffic chaos, some airports closed for hours and flights suffered delays. Numerous deaths across Europe are being attributed to the weather conditions.
